Vernon Emergency Water Leaks

In case of an emergency:

• Shut off all electrical or gas.

• ELECTRIC will be at your power panel circuit box. Turn off the breaker marked water heater.

• GAS turn the dial on top of the temperature control valve from “on” to “off “position or turn the temperature setting to vacation or pilot.

• Turn off the cold water supply valve normally located on the top right side of the heater.

• Drain water heater (if necessary) by connecting a garden hose to the drain located at the bottom of heater (gas units may be covered  by a panel) extending the hose outside at the same level as the drain connection.

Open a hot water faucet to break the vacuum. Note: If you can’t drain by gravity then a transfer pump will be need. If water does not come out, then the drain is clogged.
